Last January, I posted here about the new Shogo wireless picture frame, and agreed with the predictions that by 2011, half of all digital frames sold worldwide will be wireless. I still agree with this prediction, and I will add my own two cents’ worth to it: The best digital picture frames are the wireless digital picture frames. Best, most practical, capable of displaying the most pictures, and just plain, well, BEST. I personally own a wireless digital frame AND a regular digital frame, and I can tell you from my own experience that the wireless frame is so very much BETTER. It’s a lot easier to sit at my computer and click, than to remove the memory card, insert it in my computer’s port, slide new pictures onto it, remove, re-insert it into the picture frame, and program it again. Give me “click” any time. More and more households are going wireless, and it just makes sense to have a wireless picture frame!
The Shogo frame now has an upgrade that adds Facebook to the list of social media sites accessable by the Shogo wireless frame. The new software also allows Shogo owners to set their photo sharing sites to “private,” so only those select few will be able to view their pictures.
The software upgrade will be available online for free for all existing Shogo frame owners by the end of this month.

eStarling’s new Impact 7 frame has many features not generally associated with a 7-inch digital picture frame, the main three of which are its integrated WiFi connectivity, its own e-mail address, and the price: $99.99.
The 7″ screen has a resolution of 460 x 234, has a touch-screen border, and is iPhone - direct-to-frame-enabled. The wireless connection allows you to get images directly from most social networking pages, such as Flickr and Photobucket, as well as pictures from most RSS feeds like the National Geographic website. I hope this frame can use FrameChannel, but nothing I’ve found yet tells me so.
The eStarling Impact 7 wireles digital picture frame automatically turns itself off at night, so it doesn’t waste power.
Multiple frames can share one email address, too. This is perfect for families and friends who all have this same eStarling Impact 7 frame!
And if you are thinking just how great a frame like this would be for you, think how wonderful this frame would be for someone away at college, or in a nursing home!

There are a lot of big, well-known names in electronics these days. We associate these names with good products, innovation, intelligent people, and fair prices. All of these qualities together mean excellent customer service and excellent products.
That being said, what would you say the following names have in common?
Yes, they’re all big, reputable names. Yes, they all make electronics. Yes, they all have several wireless/digital picture frames. Yes, they’ve all been featured at least once right here on this blog.
Yes, they are names to be trusted. Yes, their wireless digital picture frames are not only versatile and reliable; they are beautiful to behold, and are a wonderful addition to any home’s decor.
All of these things are absolutely true and VERY important. However, what thrills me - and remember, I’m an electronics geek and the world’s biggest wireless picture frame fan - is that EVERY. ONE. OF. THESE. BIG. NAMES. IN. ELECTRONICS. has included FrameChannel - as a given- in the makeup of their wireless frames.
Paul Miller of Endgadget says it well; he refers to this practice as “. . . the increasingly standard FrameChannel service.”
Here’s how I would put it: “The very best wireless digital picture frames will, naturally, be FrameChannel-compatible. That would be a major reason they would be the very best!” You may quote me.
Seriously, FrameChannel is such a wonderful thing! How else, and where else, can we find and use such amazing content - Facebook, Webshots, Flickr, Picasa, along with over 400 channels of weather, news (national and local!) traffic reports, sports, quotations, NASA, Discover, National Geographic. . . . really, anything anyone would possibly want displayed on a wireless picture frame is available on FrameChannel.

The program, launched in January 2008, helps partners differentiate their products by creating compelling user experiences that deliver dynamic, personalized content to connected devices. Kristina Knight has an article up, over on BizReport, about FrameMedia’s FrameChannel! I’m a huge FrameChannel fan, as you all no doubt know by now - I consider it to be the best content provider - and it’s exciting to see news and information about FrameChannel elsewhere on the internet.
