An article posted today in DVICE made 10 suggestions on improvements to digital frames. Many of these suggestions could be very useful such as Menu and UI improvements, battery power, and of course our favorite-”All Wireless, All the Time”!

Digital and Wifi photo frames - a popular item at this year’s CES

With thousands of products showcased at this year’s Consumer Electronics Showcase, one thing was certain-both digital and wifi enabled frames were popular items. There were numerous products and booths to check out, and we’ll be posting about many of them in the coming days. Many frames were featured in the digital imaging showcase area, but many were located with the emerging technology products, proving that the market will continue to improve and offer up great new products.

In addition to many manufacturers we’re familiar with and have posted about a great deal, including Digital Spectrum, Ceiva, Kodak, Samsung, etc., there were many new manufacturers and frames to check out.

Great Wall, a manufacturer out of China, had lots of great looking frames. Many of the frames were digital only, but a few were wireless, and can accept RSS feeds. All of the frames had a great picture quality and looked great in the booth. I can only imagine how great they’d looking running FrameChannel!

Wifi digital photo frame offers instant messaging

The growth of the wireless frame market and the addition of new features has continued to impress, surprise, and excite us all. In an article posted today on gizmag.com, the plans for the upcoming release of the new Wireless PIXXA frame from Ality were announced. This sleek frame with an eight-inch screen will support instant messaging and includes a calendar feature, allowing users to synchronize calendars from online calendar websites along with their personal images. December 21, 20007 The functionality and versatility of the digital photo frame platform continues to expand with this latest example - the new Wireless PIXXA frame from Ality - incorporating Wi-Fi connectivity, instant messaging, automatic news flash and weather reports plus multiple user accounts allowing each member of the family to set-up their own multi-media libraries and personalize display preferences.

The slim-line, 8-inch digital LCD photo frame enables photos to be sent directly via the web - either direct from a computer or from PIXXA to PIXXA frame - using the instant messenger application which also supports a chat function.

The Live Calendar feature enables users to synchronize their schedules with online calendar websites without the need for a computer and photos can be attached to special dates.

Live NewsTM facilitates a customized wireless feed direct to the PIXXA digital photo frame for news, sports, weather, traffic, entertainment, horoscopes and stock quote updates.

The frame also makes it possible to send greeting cards and invitations digitally and Ality offer an online account for photo-sharing services that includes 50MB of photo storage and the ability to automatically resize photos to suit a variety of digital photo frame settings.

Ality will showcase the Internet connected Wireless PIXXA digital photo frame at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show next month. Market release is slated for the first half of 2008 with pricing expected to be around USD$299.
