My own digital photo frame is wireless, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My Digital Spectrum MF 8104 is exactly what I wanted and precisely what I needed.
However, if your home or business isn’t equipped for a wireless digital frame, you can still get a large and excellent slideshow display with a regular digital picture frame.
There is an excellent article over at The Baron’s website, which gives us all several great tips on choosing and buying a digital picture frame.
Just remember: whether your home is set up for a wireless digital frame (you’ll have more options) or not, you can still watch all of your memories cascading across the screen with a regular digital picture frame.
Just yesterday, Sony introduced its newest wireless digital picture frame, the VAIO(R) CP1 Wi-Fi photo frame.
What will the wi-fi technology in this frame do for you? Plenty!
A wireless digital frame can stream photographs, videos, music, and anything with an RSS feed directly from your computer to your picture frame.
Xavier Lauwaert, product manager for VAIO product marketing at Sony, says, “How many times have you uploaded images to your PC – vowing to share them – never to see them again? this new frame provides an easy way to retrieve and share these precious memories that otherwise would have been forgotten.”
Sony’s newest wi-fi digital frame can connect to Google and Picasa, allowing you to view any or all of the pictures you’ve stored there.
Besides all the magical wireless capabilities, the Sony VAIO CP1 can also display images from most memory sticks or SD cards, and if you have a digital SLR camera, you can use your CompactFlash(R) media card.
Or, you can just upload up to 100 digital pictures directly to the frame; it’s got 128MB of internal storage.
This frame’s RSS reader will let you view headlines, entertainment, weather, sports scores, and countless other information – in real time – from the internet.
You can listen to your favorite podcasts on this frame, too.
The Sony VAIO CP1 digital photo frame keeps your pictures and slideshows organized, too. According to the press release on the SunHerald.com website, “Content is grouped into sections called “frames,” making it easy to enjoy photos, information and music. You can choose from Slideshow – for movie-like presentations, Flow – which creates a slideshow with fun, special-effects, and Dissolve – a more traditional view that fades images into one another.”
The new Sony VAIO CP1 wireless digital photo frame will retail for about $300.00, and will be available in mid-October.

With Mother’s Day only a week away, businesses of all kinds are telling you exactly what your mother wants to see when she opens her gifts. While it is still true that many women want flowers, candy, jewelry, perfume, it is equally true that today’s electronics-savvy women want something else, as well.
Today’s woman wants to unwrap a wireless/digital picture frame on May 11th!
I know this for a fact. I’m a woman, and a mother, and my own wireless digital picture frame – my beautiful, wonderful Digital Spectrum MF 8104 – is the coolest thing I own. I update it every few days. My family and friends send me pictures for it, so I can keep up with them and their families, too. Everyone who walks through my living room stops to watch the slideshow, to see my beautiful children grow up before their eyes, to see loved ones, long gone, live again in my picture frame. . . .but I’ve spoken of these things before.
Even if your mother has never heard of digital picture frames before, she will love it. Even if your mother is like mine, and refuses to have anything whatsoever to do with computers and “gadgets,” she will love the digital picture frame that you have already loaded full of pictures for her. Just do what I did with my mother: load the frame full, set it up for her on a table or wall, and tell her she doesn’t even have to touch it. Tell her that all she has to do is look at it. Your mom, like mine, will fall madly in love with it and show it off to all her friends.
Of course, if your mom IS tech-savvy, she’ll appreciate it even more! Get wireless if you can, so your mom can have access to your or her own FrameChannel account!
Individual companies are offering great bargains for your mother’s gift, but over on Amazon, they’ve put out a page that lists almost ALL of the major brands of wireless/digital frames. All are marked down from the price you’d pay at a regular store, and there is still time to get a frame for your mom before next Sunday!
Just look at what Amazon has to offer, by way of wireless/digital picture frame choices!

Wireless/digital picture frames are getting more and more MAGICAL all the time!
I’ve posted before about how Harry Potter isn’t the only one who has a picture frame that seems almost alive by his bed. Not any more. Any one of us can have what Harry has, and we can have a moving picture frame that does even more than Harry Potter’s moving pictures do.
With a wireless digital picture frame and a content provider like FrameChannel, there really are very few limitations as to what you can see in your frame. Photographs, slideshowing one by one or in groups or in any formation you choose. . . videos. . . . movies. . . television programs. . . podcasts. . . streaming internet radio. . . . mp3’s. . . . Harry Potter’s magical picture frame merely showed the same picture over and over again, alive and moving, yes, but just the one picture. YOUR wireless digital picture frame, on the other hand, can make Harry’s picture frame look like still life, because yours can do ever so much more, even if it’s not REALLY magic.
Or is it?
The late Arthur C. Clarke said it best: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
