Parrot’s New Designer Collection Begins With Andree Putman

Posted on Jul 8, 2008 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

This classy beauty is from the Parrot Designer Collection, and it was designed by Andree Putman.

Those in the know will recognize Putman’s personal style immediately.  And whether you are in the know or not, Parrot’s gorgeous Putman frame is absolutely fantastic!

Putman says that “I would like to pay tribute to Parrot for daring to think that this wonder of technology could be coiled up inside a beautifujl wrapping.  Storage fans will be the most vulnerable to the charm of this object, which will overcome any problems of arranging photo souvenirs.”

According to Henri Seydoux, CEO and founder of Parrot, “Here at Parrot, we have always put design in the limelight.  The Parrot frame by Andree Putman is the first in a series of artistic dedications for our range of wireless audiovisual products.”

This new and artistic Parrot frame is wireless, and the bright, clear 15-inch LCD screen makes your pictures look wonderful, even from across a large room.  Just like all the other Parrot wireless/digital picture frames, the Putman frame automatically rotates and resizes all of your pictures to stylishly fit the screen.  There are several choices of slideshow, too.

Bluetooth technology allows you to transfer pictures to the Putman frame directly from your cell phone!  You can also program the wireless frame to display pictures from your computer via most content providers.  Unfortunately, Parrot wireless frames are not yet programmed to use FrameChannel, but I’m sure that day is coming.

Picture frames of all kinds have always been attractive, and with the advent of noted artists designing wireless/digital picture frames now, it’s like having a work of art in your room!  In fact, you DO have a work of art in your room!

The new Parrot Designer Collection is not available in the States yet, but just you wait a bit:  soon Americans will be able to purchase these beautiful wireless picture frames, too!

The Parrot DF7700: The Waiting Is Almost Over!

Posted on Mar 31, 2008 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

Parrot_DF7700_270x212I’ve posted before about the upcoming Parrot DF7700 wireless digital picture frame, and it looks like the waiting is almost over!

CNet Reviews’ Kent German informs us that this amazing Parrot wireless digital photo frame will be unveiled at this week’s CTIA.

According to Mr. German, “. . .the Parrot DF7700 is the first digital photo frame (as least that we know of) with an integrated SIM card and dedicated phone number. The phone number will allow you to send photos directly from your camera phone to the DF7700.”

The Parrot DF7700 wireless photo frame comes in both black leather or brown leather. The 7-inch display features 720 x 480 pixels, and supports 262,000 colors. Various features include adjustable backlighting and automatic photo orientation. This frame can hold up to 500 images in JPEG or GIF format, and when you use the wireless features, the number of pictures are, of course, unlimited.

Still no price available, but by this time next week, Parrot is sure to disclose it.

New York Times Article Reviews Seven Wireless/Digital Picture Frames

Posted on Feb 16, 2008 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

David Pogue of the New York Times wrote a fascinating article last week about how technology constantly improves itself. He says, and he’s spot-on right, that “Every fast, slick and successful product today has a crude, expensive and annoying ancestor.”

He then goes on to say that wireless/digital picture frames have improved drastically over the years, in almost every possible category and aspect. Please click over to Mr. Pogue’s article; he gives his honest opinion of seven wireless/digital picture frames. He tell us why these frames are superior, and he’s also not afraid to make some suggestions.

New Digital Frames Offer Wi-Fi, Simplicity

Thu Jan 17, 2008 1:57PM EST
Digital frames are everywhere, and CES was no exception. Upon closer look at the ubiquitous digital photo screens, a few nice trends are emerging. Wi-Fi capabilities are making it easier to send photos to frames, which are becoming less complicated to use.

Here’s a look at a few new twists to the new generation of digital frames:

Wi-Fi — Not necessarily new, but getting better. Several digital frame makers have made it easier to send photos to frames, as well as uploading them through storage cards and USB connections to computers. Kodak will have a new feature called Picture Mail this year that will allow you to send photos directly to one of its EasyShare digital frames via the Kodak EasyShare software. Ality announced the Wireless PIXXA, an 8-inch frame ($300) that allows you to send photos to it via an instant-messaging service called Photo Messenger.

Services are also emerging to help you send photos and other images and info as RSS feeds directly to the frames. FrameChannel is a free service that makes it possible to send photos and other personalized content via RSS feeds to, currently, these frames: Samsung SPF-72V, Digital Spectrum’s 8-, 10-, and 15-inch wireless frames, PhotoVu’s wireless frames, and iMate’s frames. Meanwhile, iMate has unveiled a new 10.2-inch Momento frame ($300) and a 7-inch Momento ($200) that includes Wi-Fi capability. Using a Momento subscription service (price not yet announced), you’ll be able to send photos via cell phone, RSS feeds, and sync photos with Flickr and other photo-streaming services.

Getting bigger — Ceiva, one of the first to offer a subscription service to send photos directly to frames, introduced the Pro 190, a $400 19-inch wall-mountable frame with Wi-Fi capability that allows you to move photos wirelessly from a PC to the frame, and from frame to frame. A monthly $9.95 Picture Plan subscription is still needed to send photos to Ceiva frames. Smartparts will offer the biggest digital frame to date in March, the $900 32-inch SP3200. Smartparts also showed off the first combination digital frame/printer that prints displayed photos with the push of a button. The 8-inch frame will cost $279.

Bluetooth — continues to be an option. Parrot is one of the digital frame makers that make it easy to send photos to frames via cell phones, PCs, and cameras-as long as they are Bluetooth-enabled.
