Amex Digital Picture Frame/Weather Station

AMEXweatherstationYesterday, I posted about the new AMEX digital picture frame/clock radio. Today, I’ll be talking about the new AMEX digital picture frame/weather station!

With a resolution of 800 x 480, the 7-inch color TFT LCD  screen gives you bright, clear, colorful digital pictures.  The AMEX frame can be used with almost any memory card, too. Besides digital photographs, this frame also shows videos and plays your favorite Mp3’s.  In fact, this digital picture frame/weather station can handle any JPG/AVI/Mpeg1,2,4/ and MP3.

Besides being a very good digital picture frame, the AMEX is also a clock radio and a weather station.  Its default icons indicate the weather forecast, be it sunny, cloudy, slightly cloudy, rainy, stormy or snowy, and there is also a barometric pressure trend indicator.

The RF 433MHz wireless thermometer/hygrometer links up to 5 remote sensors, with auto scroll, and will also show sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset, and the locations of the sun and moon.

What weather indicator would be complete without a humidity chart?  I live in southern Indiana, and we are more interested in the humidity than in the actual temperature!

Like yesterday’s AMEX digital picture frame/clock radio, today’s digital picture frame/weather station has a radio controlled clock with quartz backup, and a wireless remote.

Manufacturer’s suggestion price:  $139.00.

AMEX Digital Picture Frame/Clock/Radio/Mp3 Player

amex-sw-7The new AMEX SR-7 is more than just a fabulous clock/radio:  it’s also a fabulous digital picture frame!

With a 7-inch display and a resolution of 800 x 480, you’ll wake up to a slideshow of all the people you love best, along with the music or radio broadcast of your choice.

The clock has dual alarms, to make sure you get up on time, and a digital indoor thermometer! The radio controlled clock has a quartz backup, too. The reverse display is illuminated, and it also has a selectable continuous backlight.  The calendar displays the day of the week, as well as the date.

The digital picture frame is easy to use; you can use almost any kind of memory card, such as MS/MMC/SD/XD/CF, etc. Supported file formats are JPG/AVI/Mpeg 1, 2, 4/and Mp3.  The digital photo frame supports both pictures and video, as well as your favorite music.

Best of all, you can control it all from your warm, comfy bed, with the wireless remote control.

The price is a very reasonable $129.99.

Opteka Introduces Its 15″ Digital Picture Frame

Posted on Aug 7, 2008 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

The 15-inch TFT LCD screen on the Opteka digital picture frame is big enough to display over a mantel, or on that big wall over the sofa. Not only does this big Opteka digital frame show your JPEG and AVI Motion JPEG’s, it also plays your favorite Mp3’s.

128mb of memory lets you store some pictures in the frame itself, too. Otherwise, you can use almost any memory card or flash drive. With a resolution of 1024 x 768, you know your pictures will be bright and clear, even from across the room.

Speaking of “across the room,” with the credit-card size wireless remote, you can program and control your digital picture frame from across the room, too.

All of your pictures do need to be in JPEG or AVI Motion JPEG, so if you have pictures or videos in any other format you’ll have to convert them to JPEG before your Opteka frame can display them.

Customer reviews are saying that the Opteka frame scales images very well, too. The Opteka frame doesn’t stretch your images; all of your pictures will be crisp and clear which is fantastic for ANY frame, and even better on an extra-big frame like this one.

Customer reviews are also saying that this digital frame is simple to set up, and that you’ll have it running within a minute or two of opening the box.

The Opteka 15-inch digital picture frame’s price is approximately $199.99, on Amazon.

Digital Picture Frames Are Like MAGIC!

Posted on Mar 26, 2008 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

jameslilypotterWireless/digital picture frames are getting more and more MAGICAL all the time!

I’ve posted before about how Harry Potter isn’t the only one who has a picture frame that seems almost alive by his bed. Not any more. Any one of us can have what Harry has, and we can have a moving picture frame that does even more than Harry Potter’s moving pictures do.

With a wireless digital picture frame and a content provider like FrameChannel, there really are very few limitations as to what you can see in your frame. Photographs, slideshowing one by one or in groups or in any formation you choose. . . videos. . . . movies. . . television programs. . . podcasts. . . streaming internet radio. . . . mp3’s. . . . Harry Potter’s magical picture frame merely showed the same picture over and over again, alive and moving, yes, but just the one picture. YOUR wireless digital picture frame, on the other hand, can make Harry’s picture frame look like still life, because yours can do ever so much more, even if it’s not REALLY magic.

Or is it?

The late Arthur C. Clarke said it best: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
