Memorex Digital Picture Frame: An Ideal Mother’s Day Gift!

memorex

Memorex, long respected maker of electronics, introduces two new digital picture frames, just in time for Mother’s Day!

I’ve suggested before on this blog that an ideal gift for a parent or grandparent - or anyone who isn’t computer-savvy - would be a digital picture frame fully loaded with family pictures. The new Memorex digital frames would be perfect!

The new Memorex frames will read almost any memory card or flash drive, and can also be loaded full of pictures by direct USB connection with your computer, before you take it over to Mom’s or Grandmother’s house on May 11. (Mother’s Day)

Both new frames are very attractive and easy to use. Even better: the price. The frames can be purchased at K-Mart for only $89.00!

According to Memorex brand manager Carla Pihowich, “”Digital picture frames are becoming so popular in the home and as gift items, Memorex has designed these frames to be a cut above the ordinary design, with feminine graphics that will delight the mom in everyone’s life.”

The two new digital frames are the Memorex Special Occasions frame, and the Memorex Floral Print frame. Both have 7-inch displays and come with AC adapters.

You can’t buy them yet, but they will be on sale at your local K-Mart in May.

Digital Wonders For People Who Hate Computers

Posted on Feb 9, 2008 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

My mother does not own a computer. She has made it VERY clear to all of us kids that she doesn’t WANT a computer, and that if we bring a computer into her house, she’ll sell it.

However, Mother also loves to be included. She hates being “out of the loop,” and since my siblings and I communicate mostly by e-mail these days, Mom was the last to know.

The last to know “what?” The last to know anything we knew! Mom hated being the last to know. This didn’t change her mind about owning a computer; it just made her feel left out.

presto565Last Christmas, we all chipped in and bought Mom a Presto email printer. This is being heavily advertised as “email for old people,” but really, it’s perfect for anyone who doesn’t have a computer for whatever reason. Presto has set up its service so there can be no spam whatsoever; anyone who wishes to be able to send Mom email must be entered on an approved list. No one has access to this list except the account manager, which, in Mom’s case, is me. Nobody is on Mom’s list except her kids, grandkids, her church secretary, and two friends. There will be no email from Viagra, webcam babes, or “morttgage deals.”

I also signed Mom up for a daily crossword puzzle and word search, and a local weather report.

Mom was skeptical at first; it seemed an awful lot like a computer, but now she’s madly and passionately in love with her Presto email machine.

We can send pictures to her, too.

Presto costs a little over a hundred dollars, and the monthly fee is ten. It takes a standard HP 95/97 ink cartridge, which can be found in any K-mart or Wal-mart store; that’s important when it’s Mom trying to find one.

Mom was also skeptical about owning a digital picture frame. We wanted to get her one for Christmas, like the Kodak we bought my mother-in-law, but Mom couldn’t understand why anyone would want to see an ever-changing picture when her walls were already covered with regular framed pictures. She put her foot down: no newfangled digital picture frame for her.

Then she came over to our house and saw my Digital Spectrum MF8104.

Mom pulled up a chair and sat in front of it for two hours. She didn’t want supper and she didn’t want conversation; she just wanted to watch the slideshow. Now she wants her own digital frame.

Her birthday is this summer, and she’s going to get one.

Perhaps some people just need to see something with their own two eyes before they understand how much it could enhance their lives?

Wireless/Digital Picture Frames Are One of the Hottest Items of the 2007 Holidays!

Posted on Dec 1, 2007 by Jane Goodwin at 12:00 am

From Robin Goad at Hitwise comes some great news about wireless/digital picture frames! Apparently, they are one of most popular items on peoples’ Christmas lists for the 2007 season. I will have to admit that I am not in the least surprised at this statistic, because a wireless digital picture frame is Number ONE on my own personal Christmas list.

Wireless digital photo frames haven’t overtaken the Nintendo Wii or the iPhone yet, but if we wait just a little while, I would bet that they will. After all, who can find a Wii or an iPhone anywhere? But wireless/digital photo frames are still available, FOR NOW.

And can you watch your children grow up before your very eyes on an iPhone? Can you send your mother real-time pictures of your vacation with a Wii? I think not.

For personal heart-warming sharing, you need a wireless/digital picture frame.

They’re flying off the shelves, though, so if you want one, or want to get one for someone else, you’d better hurry up and get it before it’s too late.

Whether you’re talking about Amazon or K-Mart, online or mall, wireless/digital picture frames are one of the most popular items of the season. People who, a week ago, had never heard of such a thing, are now searching for just that right wireless/digital frame for a loved one. The frames are especially popular as a gift item for grandparents or other people who don’t have a computer, because you don’t necessarily NEED a computer for most frames! People are also opening the box, programming the frame, and then re-wrapping it, so when Grandma or Great-Uncle Bert open the frame, all he/she has to do is plug it in and it’s ready to go, slideshowing the grandkids and their antics - and their growing up - across the frame in bright, colorful, glowing action. Videos, too, and music! The perfection of a wireless/digital picture frame as a gift is unparalleled, unsurpassed, unbelievable!

framechannel2Even better - if you get a WIRELESS frame, you can get a FrameChannel account and program that frame from anywhere in the world!

To see just exactly how well wireless/digital picture frames are doing, compared to other electronic products, and to see exactly where people are going to find them, check out the graphs on the Hitwise webpage.

A picture is worth a thousand words, and a graph is a kind of picture.

Don’t forget, too, that a digital picture is worth a million words, and if you have a wireless/digital photo frame, you can watch the proof right there on your wall or desktop, any time you want. Just push a button on the wireless remote that comes with the frame, and you’re Harry Potter. Harry Potter and the Wireless Picture Frame.

I’d buy that book, and I’d read it cover to cover.
