Father’s Day is Tomorrow!

Posted on Jun 14, 2008 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

Father’s Day is tomorrow!  I hope you remembered that your dad didn’t want a tie or a pair of socks or a box of golf balls this year.

I hope you got your father a wireless/digital picture frame!

Oh, and I also hope you pre-loaded it for him, with pictures of everyone he knows, loves, or is related to.  I hope you remembered to upload all the vacation pictures, and all of the pets he’s had in his lifetime.  Please tell me you remembered to put his wedding photographs in the frame, and all of the birthdays, Christmases, Thanksgivings, etc.

Did you remember to ask friends and family for pictures that might be important to your dad’s life?  Put those in the frame, too.

Tomorrow, your father deserves something way better than a package of white t-shirts and a gift card.  Give this very important gentleman in your life something he’ll be able to treasure for the REST of his life.

Give him back his memories.

The picture here is MY wireless digital picture frame, by the way, and those are my babies in that transitioning picture.

My babies, over twenty years ago.  That was my dad’s favorite picture of them.  Mine, too.  Now, go out and do the same for YOUR dad.

It’s what he wants to unwrap tomorrow.  Seriously.

Family Reunions Deserve Great Pictures, and Great Pictures Deserve Wireless Digital Picture Frames

Posted on May 24, 2008 by Jane Goodwin at 7:05 pm

Have there been any good photo opportunities lately?  Times when families got together?  Special occasions?  Sentimental get-togethers?

Only Mother’s Day, Memorial Day (tomorrow!), Cinco de Mayo, Armed Forces Day, and Father’s Day (coming up on June 15.  I’m sure there are other special times I’ve failed to mention, but these are some of the bigger ones.

These days, with gas costing so much, people are less apt to drive long distances for reunions, etc, so when those rare times do happen, take a lot of pictures!

Use your Eye-fi card so everyone can see themselves and each other minutes after the fact; I’m betting that your wireless digital picture frame will be the highlight of the room!  People love pictures, and seeing pictures of themselves immediately afterwards will be a really big deal.

With many wireless/digital frames, people can copy the pictures they want directly off the frame simply by inserting a memory card or flash drive in the frame.  It’s a cinch.

Don’t let another family holiday pass you by without taking lots of pictures and showcasing them on a wireless/digital picture frame.  Send the pictures directly from your camera to your FrameChannel account, and from there to your wireless frame.

It’s awesome to behold, really, it is.

Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend.  Gas is almost four dollars here, so I’m not going anyplace.  With my wireless digital frame, though, I travel all over the world while sitting on the sofa.

Kodak, Polaroid, Phillips, Westinghouse, Ceiva, Mustek, PanDigital, Smartparts. . . The Evolution of the Picture Frame

Posted on Jun 19, 2007 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

samsung4Over on Media Post, Adrienne W. Fawcett has an article about how digital technology has not only revolutionized the way people take pictures, but has also revolutionized the way people are viewing those pictures. Hence: the evolution of the humble picture frame.

“This spring, digital picture frames took off like nobody’s business,” says Liz Cutting, senior imaging analyst at the NPD Group. According to NPD’s Retail Tracking Service, digital picture frames grossed nearly $12 million, selling more than 112,000 units, during the week before Mother’s Day.

The May week’s sales were just as strong as Christmas, and beat the week of Black Friday. The trend is expected to spike again during June’s holiday troika of graduation, confirmation, and Father’s Day. . . .”

“Price, novelty and availability are driving the category. Last year, according to NPD, 54% of the digital picture frames sold were 5.6 inches in size, with an average price of $148.00. From January through April of this year, 54% of the digital picture frames sold were seven inches and went for an average of $102.00. The average selling price of a seven-inch frame dropped from $139.00 last Mother’s Day to $81.00 this year.

The novelty factor is helping to drive the trend this spring. Digital picture frames include an LCD screen with multi-media capabilities; it’s like having a mini-Power Point presentation on the living room mantel. Consumers can program the frames or simply pop the memory card from their digital camera into a slot.”

(If you have a wireless frame, your possibilities are even greater!)
