T-Mobile’s Cameo Digital Picture Frame: Instant Pictures!

Posted on Feb 16, 2009 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

T-Mobile’s Cameo digital picture frame is just a little bit different from other digital picture frames:  the Cameo can hold a GSM SIM card and receive photos from your cell phone via its MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) capabilities!

This service will cost $10 per month and your T-Mobile Cameo will get its very own phone number.

With its 720 x 480 7-inch LCD screen, the Cameo will let you view your pictures brightly and clearly, fresh from your phone, with a “You Are There!” quickness.  The stitched leather frame lends a classic look to any home decor.

The T-Mobile Cameo is priced at $100.00, and the service is $10.00 per month.  It seems a small price to pay for such quickness of viewing.

Having a baby?  Having a party?  Having a vacation?  Whatever you’re having, you can take pictures of it with your cell phone and beam them instantly to your T-Mobile Cameo.  Or, for that matter, to your grandmother’s T-Mobile Cameo.  Or your parents’ T-Mobile Cameo.  Etc.

You get the “picture.”

For people who don’t have wireless in their home, this might be the next best thing.  We use our Eye-Fi memory card much like one would use this frame, but, again, for people who DON’T have a wireless connection in their home, the T-Mobile Cameo might be just the thing!

2008 Predicitions for wireless and digital frames

Posted on Jan 3, 2008 by Emily Logan at 7:26 am

Wireless and digital frames flew off the shelves this holiday season. With the dramatic increase in sales and advancements in technology since only one year ago, people are already wondering what 2008 will bring for the wireless frame market.

An article on photography website, Adorama, makes some predictions for the next year. One of those predictions-digital frames will surpass digital cameras as the biggest holiday gift of 2008. The article also predicted increased use of the Eye-Fi Wireless SD memory card, which we’ve written about before. With more frames on the market, and more wireless cards, it will be easier than ever to send your photos to your wireless frame in real time.

Commercial use of digital frames is growing as well. Yesterday, AirMedia Group announced the completion of outfitting two terminals in Beijing International Airport with digital frames. One terminal at the airport has been using digital frames since early December. When the newest terminal opens, 120 70-inch frames will display paid advertisements to travelers.

These exciting developments, along with past announcements like Ality’s new frame, Digital Spectrum’s partnership with FrameChannel, and Smart Parts’ coming developments will only add to the many exciting developments that will undoubtedly be announced at this year’s CES next week.

Eye-Fi Card and Wireless Picture Frame: UNBEATABLE COMBO!

Posted on Dec 29, 2007 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

eyefi-memory-card-for-digital-camerasI got my husband an Eye -Fi wireless memory card for Christmas. He wasn’t sure exactly what it could do that his regular memory cards couldn’t do, but I told him he was really going to love it when he got it hooked up and realized what he had.

From the very moment I first heard of Eye-Fi cards, I knew it was something I simply had to have. My husband has given me Christmas gifts that were really for him all our married lives, and this year it was my turn. The Eye-Fi was for him, yes, but guess who is going to get her hands on it soon?

I’ve posted before about the wireless Eye-Fi memory card, and how fantastic it was and how easy it would be to put your pictures on your computer or directly into your photo-sharing website, but honestly, now that we – I mean HE – has the Eye-Fi in his camera, it’s even better than I knew it would be.

Our Eye-Fi is set to send pictures directly to his computer, although if you have Flickr or Picasa or pretty much any other picture storage site, you can send pictures directly there, as well. I prefer FrameChannel above all other picture sites, and as of yet Eye-Fi isn’t compatible with FrameChannel. My prediction? It’s a matter of time, because FrameChannel is rapidly becoming one of the most popular storage sites on the internet. There’s a good reason for that, too: it’s fantastic. More on that later.

Once Tim’s pictures are on his computer – maybe four seconds after he clicks the button on his camera – I can quickly flip them over to my FrameChannel account, where they are INSTANTLY picked up by my awesome Digital Spectrum MF-8104 wireless digital picture frame. In other words, by the time I walk from the computer room to the living room, the newly loaded pictures are already in the slideshow. It’s magic.

I think we can safely say that my husband now realizes exactly what he has. He’s got a magic camera.
