Photoskins: Small Enough For A Wallet AND A Christmas Stocking!

emtrace-widget-one-photo-frame-walletFrom Emtrace Technologies comes one of the best stocking-stuffers of the holiday season: Photoskins.

Photoskins is a digital photo frame so small, it fits in a wallet. In fact, it’s about the same size as a business or credit card.

Measuring a scant 90 x 70 x 4.7 mm, Photoskins has a 2.5-inch high definition TFT LCD color display, 128 MB of internal memory, and 64MB SDRAM.. Control is easy with the four touch buttons located just below the screen.

But “digital photo frame” is only one of Photoskins’ talents: Photoskins also supports information widgets like CNN news, weather, and more. That’s because Photoskins has an embedded Linux OS running on a ARM920T CPU inside it. In other words, it’s a business card with a screen that has almost unlimited possibilities.

Photoskins connects to the net via USB to synchronize the installed widgets and to upload photos. Network connection also recharges the battery. When disconnected from a network, Photoskins saves all contents to view portably.

Photoskins comes with a genuine leather case and a “cradle;” when connected to a network, place Photoskins on its cradle and use it as a widget player. Dates and content are automatically synchronized and delivered, real time, right on the tiny display. On the cradle, Photoskins becomes your innovative gadget for all the information you need.

You will be able to access your Picasa, Flicker, and Webshots Widget accounts with your Photoskins gadget.

There are other widgets available for Photoskins, including stocks, comics, horoscopes, news, and many more. Widget Gallerly is continually growing.

Small enough to fit in a wallet AND a Christmas stocking. . . .

SanDisk Reveals 8GB Memory Card!

Posted on Nov 3, 2007 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

sandiskI have a SanDisk 2GB memory card and it’s not even a quarter full of pictures, Mp3’s, and assorted tests and quizzes. It’s hard to even imagine a memory card that would hold more.

But if you own a wireless/digital picture frame, just THINK of all the images you could slide from your computer’s hard drive onto the memory card and from the memory card to your wireless/digital frame!

Maybe, you could even put ALL of your pictures on it.

And along with the pictures, you could put your favorite Mp3’s on it, too! How wonderful to be able to put the soundtrack of your choice on the wireless/digital frame along with a slideshow of the pictures of your choice. This memory card is large enough to include ALL the songs you want, along with ALL the pictures you wish to display!

A year ago, it would have been difficult to imagine a lot of the technology we take for granted today. A year ago, the biggest storage capacity we had was 4GB, which is still a lot, but not as much as an 8GB.

Most wireless/digital picture frames now come with access ports for almost any and every kind of drive, but it’s still wise to check before you ‘try.’ Some of the larger capacity memory cards will work only in devices that support the SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) format. Check your wireless/digital picture frame’s requirements before you try this larger memory card.

The SanDisk memory card can be used in many other electronic devices, of course, but the one that interests me most is its potential for improving our wireless/digital picture frame options.

The 8GB M2 card is now available in stores for about $130.99. Remember to check your wireless/digital picture frame’s capacity before you buy, but if your frame can accommodate a card this large, GO FOR IT. This is going to be a hot Christmas stocking item, and time’s a’wastin!
