Many of you are sending your son or daughter off to college this week, and did you ever imagine having so much stuff in YOUR dorm room back in the day? I considered myself lucky to have a window fan, and my daughter is leaving tomorrow with a microwave oven, and little refrigerator, a toaster, a TV, and DVD player, a computer, a stereo system, and a wireless digital picture frame.
Me, personally, I think the wireless picture frame is what she’ll enjoy the most.
Her dorm is wireless, so we got her a Digital Spectrum MF 8104, the same as I have at home. I’ve not had a single problem with it and I can happily and honestly recommend it to all of you, too. I’ll be able to send digital pictures to her with lightning rapidity, and she can send them to me, too. She’s in the process of setting up a FrameChannel account for herself, too; it’s the best content provider out there.
She’s going to subscribe to the local hometown news and her new college news. She was scrolling through the dozens and dozens of FrameChannel RSS channel choices as I left for the grocery store and when I returned, she wasn’t finished checking all of them out yet! She’s going to let FrameChannel handle her Facebook pictures, too.
If you have a child who is leaving home for college, think about geting him/her a wireless digital photo frame. It’s an excellent way to keep in touch.

All over the web, people who went to the huge BlogHer conference in San Francisco are putting their pictures on their websites and encouraging each other to help themselves. On Flickr, there are several BlogHer 08 sets, and I should know, because I have one, too!
Most BlogHers had to wait until they got back home to upload their many BlogHer pictures from their camera’s memory card, but I didn’t. My BlogHer pictures were already slideshowing on my Digital Spectrum MF 8104 wireless digital picture frame before I ever set foot on the plane in the San Francisco airport for my trip back home.
I used an Eye-Fi card at BlogHer, so my pictures were appearing on my wireless picture frame just a few minutes after they were taken; my family in Indiana saw my BlogHer pictures even before I did!
Here’s the thing, you see: I set up a FrameChannel channel for my Flickr BlogHer pictures; in other words, every picture in the BlogHer 08 Flickr set that’s tagged “BlogHer08″ or “BlogHer2008″ is being picked up and included in the slideshow! FrameChannel is like magic! My Digital Spectrum MF8104 is like a magic mirror, and all I have to do is stand and look at it and it lets me relive all those wonderful memories of the good time I had at BlogHer 08 in San Francisco last week.
So, come on, BlogHers! Tag your pictures with “BlogHer08″ or “BlogHer2008,” and let FrameChannel be your content provider. Whether you’ve put your pictures in Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, Picasa, etc, FrameChannel can turn them into a channel that people can subscribe to!
You can make a subscribeable channel of anything, you know. It’s a great way to share reunions, parties, graduations, etc, too!

Ky3.com, from Springfield, MO, did a very interesting post about Consumer Reports and its testing of ten different wireless/digital picture frames. They compared and contrasted several different brands and types of frame, and concluded that HP and Smartparts led the pack, of the frames their reporters looked at closely.
You can read the report, and watch the video, right here.
Remember, of course, that different people will choose different products, based on their personal tastes and needs. My own wireless digital frame is a Digital Spectrum MF8104.
Consumer Reports has some very good advice for people who are in the market for a wireless/digital picture frame, too.

If you are one of the many people who’ve been waiting for D-Link to ship the new wireless DSM-210 digital picture frame, your wait is over! D-Link is now shipping it!
I’ve posted twice before about the D-Link DSM-210 wireless digital picture frame, and now that it’s on the market, people are finding out how cool it really is.
Wherever you might keep your pictures on your computer - Flickr, Picasa, Facebook, FrameChannel, etc. - the D-Link wireless photo frame can access them and turn them into a slideshow that your family and friends will thoroughly enjoy.
The DSM-210 also allows you to stream internet content such as news, sports, weather, trivia, great art, NASA, etc. directly to your wireless picture frame. Anything with “RSS” on it can be accessed, in fact.
Remember this symbol? Watch for it when you surf the internet. When you see the RSS symbol, you can subscribe to the site you’re looking at and view it on your wireless DSM-210.
D-Link wireless picture frames are all FrameChannel-friendly, too. FrameChannel is an excellent content provider and the accounts are absolutely free, there.
Steven Joe, president and CEO of D-Link Systems, Inc., tells us that “Bringing this easy-to-use Wi-Fi and Internet-enabled photo frame to market is an important extension of our digital home strategy where the home network serves as a powerful platform to connect together a variety of devices beyond just PC’s. This 10″ photo frame (DSM-210) is an ideal solution for customers wanting to view not only the hundreds of photos stored on their PC’s but those they’ve uploaded for others to share over the Internet. It was also important that we provide our customers the added benefit of accessing content that interests them from the frame such as the latest news, weather and sports scores without the need to turn on the PC.”
Not only is the new D-Link DSM-210 wireless, it’s also GREEN! It has a power-saving motion detector, so when someone is in the room, the frame turns on, and when nobody is in the room, the frame automatically switches off, to save electricity.
The DSM-210 is wireless, but it can also be updated via most standard flash memory formats. Plus, the frame itself has a full gig of internal memory. You can hang it on the wall, or display it on a table or desktop.
The D-Link DSM-210 wireless digital picture frame has a 10-inch widescreen and a wireless remote. It comes with interchangeable black and white faceplates, but thanks to a partnership with Skinit (TM), D-Link has custom skins available, so if you want a specific type or color or style of frame, just let them know!
What a great wireless digital photo frame for only $249.99!
