The Hacked USB Flash Drive

Posted on Jul 21, 2008 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

Sometimes, especially on a Monday morning, ya just need to giggle.  This might look as though someone tried to steal your laptop, but it’s actually a real USB Flash Drive!  2 gigs worth of storage, in fact.

I’m guessing that this one is mainly for people who like to attract attention, and get those stares from puzzled passers-by who aren’t sure whether or not to tell a stranger that his flash drive was torn in half while he was working!  Or was it?  Whoops, never mind!

Here’s a big ol’ picture from Fred & Friends.

I don’t think I’d be interested in this product for my digital picture frame, but it would be funny with my laptop. . . .

The hacked flash drive will be on sale soon.  Price not yet determined.

AOC’s Monitor Doubles As A Digital Picture Frame

Posted on Jul 17, 2008 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

The AOC 2230FH LCD monitor is so much more than just a monitor.  It’s also a media player, an HD TV, an HD monitor, and a digital picture frame!  And you don’t even need a computer to use it!

This new AOC  has HD3 technology, which allows it to do far more than just be an HDTV.  You can use almost any memory card or flash drive with it; it’s got a 4-in-1 card reader, and the 1680 x 1050 pixel resolution pretty much guarantees a clear, bright, beautiful picture every time.

You can even use it to play video games!

All of the reviews I’ve found so far have been good, and all of them agreed on this part:  the price is RIGHt.  This 22-inch monitor is only $399.00.

“While consumers are using cell phones for MP3 players, internet browsers, TVs, navigation devices, and phones, AOC determined that consumers deserved a display that would act as more than just an HD monitor or TV, so we developed HD3,” said Robert Velez, Marketing Manager of AOC. “We’re very excited to be the first to bring HD3 technology to the market with the 2230Fm. AOC has taken over 40 years of display manufacturing experience to create this new way for consumers to enjoy a wide array of video options with a built in media player, and top-level performance regardless of whether it’s being used as an HD TV, monitor or Digital picture frame.  This is a shift from categorizing displays as TVs, monitors or picture frames as our technology has allowed for the marriage of all three into the ultimate high-definition display. HD3 technology is the next logical step in today’s digital market.”

Zune Puts eBooks on Your Wireless/Digital Picture Frame

Posted on Jul 14, 2008 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

Roversoft’s Zune eBook Creator allows you to put eBooks on your wireless digital photo frame! The eBook Creator transforms the text into a “picture,” much as though you were scanning a book and saving each page as a picture, and therefore your wireless frame can pick up the eBook and display it on its screen just as it would any photograph. In other words, the eBook Creator can produce jpeg images from eBook formatted files.

Both English and Russian versions are supported.

You will have the ability to modify your eBooks, just as you do your photographs.

Take a look at the demo.

The RoverSoft Zune eBook Creator costs $19.50, and you can download it right from the RoverSoft site. All of the reviews I found were positive, and there is a help file on the website.

Where can you find eBooks to download and convert? My goodness; they’re all over the internet! Too many to link here, but if you just search for “eBooks” you’ll find plenty of good reading, and most of it free.
