The iPad may redefine web browsing on the sofa but what other use cases will it have. With the mass of accessories sure to come out with it, I see an iPad sitting next to my bed in its docking station waking me up to photos, news, weather and other content…powered by FrameChannel? Stay tuned!
With the new announcement of the iPad from Apple, do we finally have the ultimate photo frame experience. When we launched FrameChannel we used to call a WiFi photo frame with FrameChannel the “iPhone on the wall” … and now with the iPad and our FrameChannel app, this will be a reality. Sure the iPad can do a lot more but when its idle there will be no better experience for photos and information than to use FrameChannel as the perfect screensaver for your Apple iPad. And when you approach the device, FrameChannel will give you one click access to the content that matters to you most.
Tablets, Slate PCs and similar devices were all over CES this year. With the anticipation of the Apple Tablet announcement later this month, many CE companies were trying to beat Steve to the punch by showing off their newest Slate PC. All great news for FrameChannel users as FrameChannel will be available on many of these devices in both a screensaver mode, turning your idle tablet into a decorative and informative connected screen while also offering an interactive mode, one click access to the content that matters to you most. The question is going to be price. Will the Tablets come down in price to a point where you use tablet in a doc to display photos and other content or will the WiFi photo frames continue to come down in price and up in functionality to play a more tablet like role with one click access to content along with a screensaver mode running FrameChannel content passively.
Its all good news for FrameChannel fans as FrameChannel is quickly becoming a checklist item on all these devices so no matter who wins you will be able to get your favorite internet content on whatever connected screen you choose.
When this Apple Tablet hits the market, I’m sure we’ll all be blown away as we always are with new Apple innovations. We don’t know for sure what it will be called (iSlate and iPad are the rumors), we don’t know what cool new features it will have but one thing we do know is that an internet connected screen like this will need something cool to run when its in “passive” mode. FrameChannel is the perfect screensaver app for this new device. It let’s you pick and choose the content that matters to you most, from your photos on your favorite photosharing sites and social networks and mix that with updates from your favorite news sources, blogs, RSS feeds, weather reports, sports scores and more. We can’t wait for this new device to launch as it should be a superb FrameChannel experience. Stay tuned, Apple has a big event in late January which could make for a very Happy New Year for all of us.
