Pointcast Coming to the Apple Tablet? Probably not, but the FrameChannel Screensaver is!
The technology world is waiting for the much anticipated Apple Tablet to hit the market. Although the date has yet to be announced, the Apple Tablet is a hot press topic (currently outpacing Jon Gossilin’s plans to resolve his girlfriend issues on Yahoo’s “Web Pulse”).
Why such a hot topic? Because the Apple Tablet may be a consumer Technology Sea change. The Apple Tablet may become the first “always on” home appliance. Arik Hesseldahl of Business Week writes: “The iPod touch is so useful as an Internet device that I keep one handy on my bedside table. It would make a lot of sense for Apple to market a device with a larger screen—say, 7 in. to 10 in.”
Whether it’s the kitchen, the bedroom, or the den, the Apple Tablet will likely become the home’s personalized digital signage device, “pushing” the content which matters to the consumer around the clock (or at least during the hours specified). Calendar events, real-time sports scores, stock quotes, new Facebook photos for selected friends, specific key-word tweets, and much more – all determined by the information consumption appetite of the home consumer and all delivered to the Apple Tablet sitting on the bed stand of the kitchen counter.
I was a big fan of the personalized Pointcast service popular on corporate desktops in the late 90’s. The service pushed to my screen the content which mattered to me. It connected me with the news and information which allowed me to do my job more effectively and efficiently.
The FrameChannel screensaver combined with the Apple Tablet will connect the consumer with the information which will allow for them to live their busy lives more effectively and efficiently. Personalize Digital Signage for the Consumer – I’m a believer!

security on these devices is non-existent:

When is Frame Channel going to come clean and admit that they did not implement the proper security infrastructure allowing for thousands of picture frame content streams to be compromised and in addition they continue to be compromisable as of 1/6/2009? FrameChannel needs to be taken down until a real security system can be implemented.

Alan, I agree! Big fan of Pointcast and now a 2x Framechannel customer (I was one of the 10,000 to buy the Kodak frame via Woot last month and a vFrame app for my iPhone)
Keep up the great work at FrameChannel – I think your stuff will be superb on the Magic Screen. Read more about my predictions at http://www.marketingapple.com
P.S. where can one get a FrameChannel screensaver?
