Emerging Markets Driving Growth in Worldwide Camera Phone Market
According to a new report by InfoTrends, worldwide shipments of camera phones are expected to exceed 1.3 billion in 2012 (up from 700 million units in 2007). The biggest boost in shipments is expected to come from the Eastern Europe, Middle Eastern, and African regions.
Camera phones with higher resolutions (5+ megapixels) are expected to drive market growth in countries with already strong markets. It is expected that the increased availability and quality of camera phones will help drive photo-sharing behaviors.
