Cea Predicts Consumer Electronics Will Hit the $700 Billion Mark by 2009

According to new data from the Consumer Electronics Association (CED) and the GfK Group, consumer electronics revenue will grow nearly ten percent in 2008, hitting the $700 billion mark by 2009.  As long as people try to improve their lives, they will continue to embrace technology.

CEA’s senior director of market research Tim Herbert says, “No matter where consumers are, whether it’s on the coast of Turkey or the mountains of Peru, they crave access to information, entertainment and two-way communication.  Many regions of the world face high population densities or underdeveloped infrastructure.  Mobile products help consumers overcome these hurdles.”

This is not an exaggeration, either.  I fully believe that more and more, people are relying on electronic devices for many things, chief among them entertainment.  In the area of wireless/digital picture frames, for example, one doesn’t even require a computer to use some of them; however, WITH a computer, and particularly with a wireless connection, one can utilize a wireless picture frame to its full capacity.
