Taiwan-based LCD module (LCM) and LCD panel maker Giantplus Technology recently said the company is planning to roll out 4-inch digital photo frame panels with the launch time scheduled for the second quarter of 2008, at the earliest.

The company will produce the 4-inch panel at the third-generation (3G) plant of Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT). Giantplus will officially take over the 3G line in January 2008, according to market sources.

Rival Wintek recently highlighted the company plans to produce 1-7-inch panels at its second 3G LCD panel plant. Giantplus, in response, said the company has no plans to introduce 7-inch panel products. However, with a new rising wave digital photo frames, the company is planning to launch a 4-inch product.

The size of a 4-inch digital photo frame is similar to the traditional size of a 5×7 photo.

Giantplus posted monthly revenues of NT$1.3 billion (US$40.15 million) in November, slightly lower than the record high of NT$1.34 billion it reported in September.
