Wireless Archos 704: Versatility PLUS!

Posted on Dec 31, 2007 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

archosThe wireless 7-inch Archos 704 is a storage and viewing portal for all of your media, both video and audio. It’s being marketed as a PMP (Portable Media Player) but it’s so much more than merely that.

In your wireless home, the Archos 704 can browse through any networked computer. Not only that, the Archos 704 can also connect - wirelessly- to any online video store and download directly.

The wireless Archos 704 has 80 GB of hard drive (that’s approximately 70 full-length movies, folks!) and the clear bright LCD screen is perfect for viewing those movies, your personal photos, music videos, whatever you want to see. If you get the Archos DVR Station, you can even connect your 704 WiFi to your TV! And if you do that, you can use your Archos as a digital video recorder, and then your favorites will be stored in the wireless frame until you remove them! The Archos 704 will hold up to 800,000 photos; that should be enough for even YOUR family reunion! Your pictures will be displayed with music of your choice and all kinds of transition effects, if you so choose.

You can connect the wireless Archos to your PC and download almost any kind of media directly. The Archos has a touchscreen, which makes input even easier. Be sure to keep your hands clean.

Want to hear some music on your Archos 704? Take your choice: you can listen to Mp3, WAV, WMA, and - don’t tell anybody- protected WMA music files!

Pictures? Pick your format: JPEG, PNG, and BMP image files all look great on your wireless Archos 704.

You’ll save over a hundred dollars if you buy it from Amazon.

Eye-Fi Card and Wireless Picture Frame: UNBEATABLE COMBO!

Posted on Dec 29, 2007 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

eyefi-memory-card-for-digital-camerasI got my husband an Eye -Fi wireless memory card for Christmas. He wasn’t sure exactly what it could do that his regular memory cards couldn’t do, but I told him he was really going to love it when he got it hooked up and realized what he had.

From the very moment I first heard of Eye-Fi cards, I knew it was something I simply had to have. My husband has given me Christmas gifts that were really for him all our married lives, and this year it was my turn. The Eye-Fi was for him, yes, but guess who is going to get her hands on it soon?

I’ve posted before about the wireless Eye-Fi memory card, and how fantastic it was and how easy it would be to put your pictures on your computer or directly into your photo-sharing website, but honestly, now that we - I mean HE - has the Eye-Fi in his camera, it’s even better than I knew it would be.

Our Eye-Fi is set to send pictures directly to his computer, although if you have Flickr or Picasa or pretty much any other picture storage site, you can send pictures directly there, as well. I prefer FrameChannel above all other picture sites, and as of yet Eye-Fi isn’t compatible with FrameChannel. My prediction? It’s a matter of time, because FrameChannel is rapidly becoming one of the most popular storage sites on the internet. There’s a good reason for that, too: it’s fantastic. More on that later.

Once Tim’s pictures are on his computer - maybe four seconds after he clicks the button on his camera - I can quickly flip them over to my FrameChannel account, where they are INSTANTLY picked up by my awesome Digital Spectrum MF-8104 wireless digital picture frame. In other words, by the time I walk from the computer room to the living room, the newly loaded pictures are already in the slideshow. It’s magic.

I think we can safely say that my husband now realizes exactly what he has. He’s got a magic camera.

A Few More Reasons To Love FrameChannel!

Posted on Dec 27, 2007 by Jane Goodwin at 12:05 am

FrameChannelI’ve been having such a good time setting up and playing with my new 10.4″ Digital Spectrum wireless digital Memory Frame ! Honestly, this is the most wonderful thing I’ve brought into my house since the babies, and the frame doesn’t require nearly as much care.

Some of you have been inquiring about how easy it is to get a FrameChannel account, once you’ve set up your new Christmas wireless frames, and how easy is it to USE the FrameChannel account once you’re ready to roll.

I’ve been “messing” with my own FrameChannel account for a couple of weeks now, and I can tell you first-hand that it’s a CINCH to use!

Just go to the FrameChannel website and open an account. They’re absolutely free, and there is simply no better picture storage service, picture library service, or subscription content service anywhere else on the internet.

How many pictures are you allowed to store on your FrameChannel channels? Well, I’ve got 858 personal photos on my account right now, and I don’t see any end in sight. How many of those pictures have I seen on my wireless picture frame? All of them! I’ve also subscribed to several other channels via FrameChannel: a Bible quotation-a-day, the local weather, two of my favorite cartoons (For Better or For Worse and Stone Soup) and some picture channels from National Geographic and NASA. There are dozens of channels, and an amazing variety, from which to choose!

Once you’ve got your FrameChannel account, log in and click on “My Photos.” Click “Browse” under “Upload New Pictures.” This will bring up your own desktop. Find your pictures, and upload them individually or in batches. (For a batch upload, highlight the group of pictures and then press “Open.” ) The picture names will appear in the box. When you get a few in there, or a lot, or one, press “Upload.” This will take just a few seconds for a few pictures, and longer for a big batch. The point is, your work is finished. Just wait until the pictures are uploaded and they will all appear in your channel to the left. If your wireless digital frame is plugged in and ready to go, the pictures will start appearing immediately.

See? Simplicity!

See? YOUR PICTURES!!!!!! My account is set on “random.” I love it. I LOVE IT!

These are just a few reasons why FrameChannel ROCKS.

One more reason: You can email pictures to your wireless digital picture frame! So can your friends!

alitywirelessAlity introduces its newest frame, the WIRELESS PIXXA 8-inch frame. Be looking for it at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in January from the 7 - 10, and at Pepcom’s Digital Experience media showcase at Caesar’s Palace on Jan.6. Read the press release right HERE.

See a demo and learn how to set up the Alixy PIXXA right HERE.

I think that the invention of the wireless digital picture frame rates right up there with the light bulb; to be able to sit at my computer and send pictures of my children, my home, my cats, my garden, my Christmas tree, etc, to my living room wall and, more magical still, to my sister’s living room wall a thousand miles away with the click of a keyboard. . . well, it’s like like living at Hogwarts and sending things through the air with a flick and a swish.

Yes, these are magical times we live in.
