Eye-Fi Wireless SD Memory Card: “We’re putting the magic back into photography.”

eyefi-memory-card-for-digital-camerasNumero Uno on my Christmas List this year is this absolutely fantastic WIRELESS SD MEMORY CARD!

What’s the big deal about the Eye-Fi SD Memory Card? Oh, just one big deal. . . it transforms your digital camera into an instant wireless uploading system, that’s all.

You can sit at Starbucks or Pantera or Barnes and Noble and send pictures to your home computer, via your home Wi-fi network. Whether you’ve got PC or a Mac, and to your favorite photo-sharing website. Any hotspot you encounter can be your portal to the computer on your desk at work or at home.

Got an account with an online photo-sharing website? The Eye-Fi will upload your pictures directly to seventeen online photo sharing websites. It takes care of re-sizing, too. What, exactly, does this mean? It means that while you’re still on the cruise ship or in that casino in Vegas, you can be sending the real-time pictures back to your real-time home any time you find a hotspot.

Plus, once you’ve sent your pictures wirelessly to your computer, your Eye-Fi card is cleared and you’ve got all that 2 GB of free space to fill up again!

The Eye -Fi wireless memory card is a standaard SD card with wireless connectivity built right in. It will work with any digital camera that has the SD slot, so you don’t have to go running out to purchase a new digital camera; your old one will work just fine with the Eye-Fi card.

Jef Holove, chief executive officer of Eye-fi, says that “Digital cameras have made it extremely easy to take pictures, but the rest of the process is a hassle. The Eye-Fi Card removes the barriers and lets users get to the fun part of sharing and printing their memories. We’re putting the magic back into photography.”

What are the limitations? How many photos will the Eye-Fi handle? Easy. There are no limitations, and the Eye-Fi can handle unlimited numbers of photos, because when you send them back to your own computer, you can then clear out the card and begin again.

Got a Facebook? You can use the Eye-Fi to send pictures to it. Picasa? Flickr? Shutterfly? TypePad? Photobucket? Kodak Gallery? Fotki? Shutterfly? dotPhoto? Webshots? Phanfare? Wal-Mart? Snapfish? VOX? Smugmug? Sharpcast? Ditto.

You must have a WiFi setup at your home or office for the Eye-Fi to connect to, but these days, who doesn’t? The Eye-Fi is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X, and works with Internet Explorer 6 and 7, and Firefox 2.0.

It costs only $99.00 and it’s a bargain at the price. Tell Santa it would fit perfectly into your stocking and you’d like to find it there on Christmas morning.

Better still. . . . go out and get one yourself so you can send those Christmas morning pictures directly to Grandma, Aunt Vera, and Great-Uncle Hugh, AS IT HAPPENS.

Remember, too, that the minute those pictures hit your computer, your wireless digital picture frame will pick them up, too. What an awesome concept.

Does this card RESIZE photos as it is doing its magic? I need to be able to maintain the original quality of my shots, for it to be truly useful. Is this configurable? Would love to know.
