PhotoVu’s 19-inch Wireless Frames Are In My College’s Hallways!
Tonight, as I was walking down the hall after class, I noticed something new in the hallways.
My college has four wings, and in each wing was a 19-inch PhotoVu wireless digital picture frame.
Each of the frames had a crowd gathered around it, as the images changed every few seconds. Pictures of students, faculty, facility, grounds. . . schedules, room assignments, regulations, ID’s, weather. . . . if it was important to a student during the first week of classes, it was slide-showing on those frames.
I will have to say that even though I knew a 10-inch screen was large, I had no idea HOW large. Those wireless digital frames looked like movie screens up there!
We have discussed the PhotoVu 19-inch wireless frame on this blog before, but seeing it in those hallways really brought the immense coolness of this concept home to me. What a wonderful way to communicate with students! What a wonderful way to communicate with ANY clientele, for that matter.
I’m really, really impressed, Ivy Tech.

It has taken quite a load off the receptionists in various departments, as many of the questions were about cancellations, weather, etc. Besides, the frames look so GOOD! Sometimes, people throw in a picture of their children or pet, along with the college information. Job postings will be added in a few days.
I saw three frames last night, and all three had a crowd gathered around them.

The advertised wireless capabilities are a scam. I’ve owned a photovu for over a year and they constantly promise future upgrades to Wireless G, WPA (as long as you keep paying an annual upgrade fee). I’m stuck using Wireless B for the Photovu, while the rest of the house is wireless N/G

Thats one of the ONLY reasons I have not purchased any of their picture frames. I checked into this over a year ago and they had stated the release of the WIFI G with WPA was coming out shortly. Well that was over a year ago! They have released additional frames and OS upgrades since then but never a WIFI G with WPA. Amazing since they expect you to transfer LARGE image files via an old and slow 802.11b with WEP technology. Very disappointing and makes you wonder the credibility of the company especially since they want you to pay them a yearly support fee for such upgrades.
Don’t get me wrong, if they want to charge another $50 for the upgd, I would pay it even though I think it should be included with the newer frames being released.
If they want to say they are the best in the market, then they should also release their hardware with these simple upgraded features…

We have one in our office, it has worked flawlessly since we set it up in January and runs live news and pictures all day with a feed from FrameChannel. We love it!
