Parents Take Note: Your Child’s Teacher Could Really Use A Wireless Digital Picture Frame!
I’m in Indianapolis this weekend, and until a few mintues ago, I was sitting with a large group of teachers, discussing odds and ends about education in general, students in particular, and ways we’ve made our curriculums and classrooms “user-friendly” for our children.
As teachers, we all had many common bonds. One of them took me by surprise, although it was something I already knew and have even posted on this website before. It was really good to hear a big group of educators agree about it!
Almost all of them had been given a wireless digital picture frame by parents, PTO’s, local businesses, or the school system itself.
Almost all of them updated their wireless frames from their homes, in the evening or early morning, so that each day when the students walked into the classrooms, their spelling words, vocabulary words, writing prompts, etc, were already slide-showing on the wireless digital picture frame on the wall beside the teacher’s desk. The early morning routine was established: the students studied the wireless digital frame, and began working independently. As if one voice, all the teachers in this group today said that the gift of their wireless digital photo frames was the best gift they’d EVER received! Several of them had gone out and purchased a wireless frame for their homes. Two elementary teachers said that even their most unruly students’ attentions were held by the wireless digital frame: there was just something about “technology” that catches and holds a student’s attention. Students who just wouldn’t notice something written on the blackboard will be held mesmerized by a wireless digital picture frame!
When school starts up again in August, it would be nice of you asked your child’s teacher if he/she would like to have a wireless digital picture frame. Take it up with the PTO. Go in with a few friends and donate one to a classroom. Mention it to your school board.
The future is here, and if our children can watch it slide-show right before their eyes, that’s a wonderful thing indeed.
