Pandigital Launches 7 New Frames, WiFi and Bluetooth Kits

Pandigital announced seven new digital picture frames today that add new sizes, features, and, through add-on kits, wireless options, to its line up. With the wireless kits, these frames become Pandigital’s first wireless digital picture frames. The new frames, which range in size from 6 inches to 15 inches, will be available in July, though the exact release date of the frames was not specified in the press release.

The frames have the following new features:

  • PictBridge functionality, letting users print photos directly from the frame to any PictBridge-compatible printer.
  • Integrated calendar and alarm clock
  • Audio annd video playback options
  • Programmable on and off times
  • Settings to play audio, video, and photos at specified times
  • Remote control

The frames support the standard array of file types — JPEG, Motion JPEG, MPEG 1 and 4, MP3, AVI — and feature a card-reader slot that is compatible with SD, XD, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro/Memory Stick Duo, Compact Flash, and MMC cards.

Along with the frames, Pandigital also announced the release of its:

  • Bluetooth connector/adaptor: $39.99, available in July
  • WiFi connector/adaptor: works with 802.11a/b/g networks, $49.99, available in August
  • Battery Pack: provides up to 3 hours of viewing time, $49.99, available in August

I just bought the DPF80-2 at my Costco Store. No mention of the backlight source or viewing angle, although on the Internet, Costco specifies LED backlighting and 65 (H&V) viewing for item #169762. I’d hate to be the last to buy and old 8-inch frame. How many 8-inch frames does Pandigital have (not counting the PAN80-2 above?

There are 17 8″ frames that Pandigital has built since they started. Currently there are 2 current models and 2 new models comming soon. The current models will be discontinued soon.
