Harry Potter and the Wireless Digital Picture Frame
I went to WalMart today. Now, you must understand that I am not a typical WalMart shopper. I am not a typical shopper no matter where I go.
Actually, I hate shopping.
Well, “hate” is perhaps the wrong word. I do not like to shop for the kinds of things most women love to shop for.
I like to shop for electronics and music. Yes, I know that isn’t typical. No, I have no desire to change, but thank you for asking.
Since I have begun to write for this Wireless Digital Picture Frames blog, I have become obsessed with finding wireless/digital picture frames in any store I enter. At first, it was hard to find them. Often, nobody in the store knew what I was talking about.
Then, things began to change. Stores became more familiar with the wireless/digital picture frame concept, understood what they were, and began to carry them. One or two labels, at first, and then as the public went BERSERK over them, more labels, sizes, and types. When I asked where they were, the clerks knew where to point.
In this town, and this is a SMALL town, the shelves of wireless/digital picture frames are soon emptied. It’s quite common that when I go to my favorite department (electronics) to look for them, they’re already gone.
Today, though, I noticed something else. The store had a Kodak wireless picture frame hooked up and someone was sending all kinds of pictures to it: pictures of customers and pictures of baby kittens and pictures of store clerks and pictures of the weather and pictures of Nascar drivers and pictures of somebody’s child’s birthday party. . . you name it, and the pictures were coming through thick and fast.
A crowd had gathered, and you would have thought it was the Fourth of July already. People were actually gasping, and calling it “magic.” One woman wondered aloud if the wireless frame were some kind of advance Harry Potter advertisement.
I do agree with her that a wireless digital picture frame seems like magic, though.
And speaking of the Fourth of July. . . wouldn’t that be a great time to take some family pictures and send them like magic through the air so they appear on your wireless digital picture frame?
I think it would. Go get yourself a wireless digital picture frame before the shelf is emptied again. While you’re there, get one for your mother.
