Kodak Imagines Digital Camera/Frame Locket
Kodak has displayed at an exhibition a combination digital camera and digital picture frame encased in a locket. The “1881″, designed by concept designer Lindsey Pickett, is, of course, fairly large to wear around your neck, but the size is required to make the digital frames inside at all useful. Photos can be taken with it either by pointing the camera and clicking a button or opening the locket and using the viewfinder.
The device is just a concept right now and isn’t available for purchase. This is probably good, since a device like this likely would need some refinement before being a solid consumer offering.
There are other small or locket-type digital picture frames out there. It’s a cool idea (seems straight out of a science fiction movie, right?) and it will be interesting to see how manufacturers pursue this personal/portable digital picture frame idea. Maybe we’ll all be carrying fold-out, wallet-sized digital photos someday.
